Business and Working Visas for the USA

Are you looking to work or conduct business in the USA?

The US Visa System is among one of the most complex in the world.

Business and Travel are time-consuming matters – don’t let Visa issues slow you down.

Popular Applications That Can Be Made

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list – many of these applications have sub-categories to cater for different circumstances.

ESTA – The ESTA, which stands for Electronic System for Travel Authorization, is also known as the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). It is an electronic type of Visa which is applied for online that allows for tourist entry and simple business meetings. The ESTA is not available to all nationalities.

B-1 Visa – If you are not eligible for an ESTA, it is recommended that you consider the B-1 Visa. This is a type of Visitor Visa that permits you to undertake basic business activities. Most importantly it does not allow you to work for/be paid by a US company, nor can it be used to run a business.

L1 Visa – this is another Visitor type category. It is divided into two parts – for Executives & Managers (L1A Visa) and for those with Specialized Knowledge (L1B). This Visa allows for the transfer of staff from one branch of a company to another within the USA. Typically, a 7-year stay is granted. This is very popular for those looking to start up business using minimal investment.

H-1B Visa – designed for graduates, this Visa permits entry to fill vacancies in the USA that require bachelor degrees. Perfect for those with specialty degrees in high-demand sectors i.e. Information Technology, Financing, Science, Engineering etc.

E2 Treaty Investor Visa – this is open to nationals of certain countries listed in the USA’s longstanding commercial and navigational Treaty. This is appealing as there is no set minimum limit to permit investment in the USA, it is also considerably cheaper than most other categories of US investment visas.

EB5 Visa – for nationals who have invested either a million or half a million dollars in the US into a consistently profit-making business. This leads to a Green Card, and ensures that you would become a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) of the USA. The thresholds for investment are set by the industry in which you are investing.

EB-1 Visa – this is designed for exceptional business people, scientists, artists, entertainers and sportspeople to gain LPR in the USA. It is set aside for both those who hold Executive or Managerial roles in these fields, and for those legitimately considered as exceptional individuals.
